U.S. Men’s National Team 15s to face rival-Canada in Vancouver as final test match before Rugby World Cup Japan 2019

Eagles will face Canada at B.C. Place Stadium on September 7

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The U.S. Men’s National Team 15s will play rival-Canada on Sat, Sept 7, K.O. 7:00pm PT, at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver as a final warm-up match for Rugby World Cup Japan 2019.

The warm-up game will mark the third meeting between the North American rivals this year as both teams last faced off in a tightly contested battle during the Americas Rugby Championship in March where the U.S. prevailed 30-25. Canada and the United States will play once more before the warm-up game, on July 27 at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO as part of the Pacific Nations Cup 2019.

September’s contest will be the final test match for both teams before departing for Rugby World Cup where the United States are drawn in Pool C with England, France, Argentina and Tonga. A warm-up game will be crucial in helping both sides solidify their preparation ahead of what serves as the third-largest single sport event in the world in Japan.

USA Rugby General Manager of Men’s 15s Programs, Dave Hodges said: “The last match prior to going to Rugby World Cup 2019 will be important for us to test all of our systems and preparations from the summer. Canada’s improvement over the last year and that fact that it will be our 3rd time playing against our northern rivals should make for a fiercely contested game as both teams will want to finish on a positive note before getting on the plane to Japan.”

USA Rugby CEO, Ross Young said: “Very pleased to add a pre-tournament fixture ahead of the team’s departure for Japan. These two teams prove to bring out the best in each other’s competition over the years, so it sets up perfectly for a Rugby World Cup send-off challenge on the road.”

Tickets for the matchup in Vancouver will be on sale to the public on May 29 but fans can sign up for exclusive early access to the best seats available through USA Rugby’s presale ticket list. To sign up for the presale list, click here or
